Scho & Müller GmbH was represented at the EURO DEFENCE EXPO (EUDEX) 2026 in Essen. The new trade fair offers a platform for the exchange between companies, developers and other actors in the fields of security and Defence technology, drone technology and aerospace.
The fair visit focussed in particular on topics related to UAVs, drones, biomimicry, aerodynamics and fluid mechanics. As a development company for biomimetic rotor blades and nature-inspired fluid mechanics, Scho & Müller is intensively involved in how biological principles can be transferred to modern applications in aerospace engineering.
A current focus of the development is on biomimetic propellers for UAV systems. The focus is on lower acoustics, the targeted influence of the frequency characteristics, higher efficiency for larger drone ranges and application-specific propeller models for different UAV systems. The goal is to develop ultra-low-noise and long-range propellers.
Already in the first development phase, a reduction in acoustic perceptibility was detected in measurements based on DIN EN ISO 3744 and at the same time the shear and efficiency values were improved. A holistic development approach is pursued, in which acoustics, aerodynamics, energy efficiency and the respective application are considered together.
At the EURO DEFENCE EXPO, numerous new contacts from the field of UAV and aerospace engineering were established, current technical challenges were discussed and first approaches for possible joint development projects were identified.
The discussions on aerodynamic optimisation, biomimetic propeller development, more efficient drive systems and new rotor and propeller geometries for drones and UAVs were particularly exciting. The first ideas arose, which are to be further concretised together with potential partners.
The EURO DEFENCE EXPO has shown how great the potential for innovative developments is at the interface of bionics, drone technology, fluid mechanics and aerospace.
The resulting contacts are now to be further expanded, new cooperations are to be initiated and competences in bionics, aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, propeller development and aerospace engineering are to be brought into future aviation systems.
