BiomimeticBlades™

Turning drones into birds. At least when it comes to noise and efficiency!

Scho & Müller GmbH has developed a new generation of nature-inspired propellers with its BiomimeticBlades™, making drones significantly quieter while simultaneously improving their energy efficiency.

A plug-and-play solution, meaning: Same motor, same battery, just different propellers. The technology is now entering the certification phase in collaboration with TÜV NORD GROUP.

Our measurements so far show:

– 5–10 dB(A) lower noise emissions according to DIN EN ISO 3744 (a 10 dB difference corresponds approximately to a doubling of perceived loudness).

– 10–20% lower energy consumption at the same thrust.

– A targeted 30% reduction in energy consumption to enable longer flight times with the same battery capacity.

What makes this technology particularly interesting is that it not only reduces overall noise emissions but can also selectively influence specific frequency ranges.

But the ambition goes far beyond drones.

The biomimetic principles can also be applied to fans, heat pumps, turbines, marine propellers, and potentially aircraft engines.

Scho & Müller GmbH sees enormous potential in aviation in particular. In the long term, the company aims to investigate whether optimized flow geometries could achieve jet fuel savings of more than 2%. We are talking about a potential of over 10%.

Now comes the next step: From development to industrial-scale production.

Scho & Müller GmbH is actively seeking discussions with companies, manufacturers, and industrial partners to further develop the technology together and scale it across various applications.

The goal is to bring this technology to market from Germany and set new standards for quieter, more energy-efficient propulsion systems.

Less noise. Less energy consumption. More performance.
